Patty Haman has been teaching K-4 General music at Prairie Hill Elementary in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, since 2014 after teaching K-5 Music and 5th Grade Chorus for four years in Indianola, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Masters of Music Education in 2015 and The University of Iowa with a Bachelors of Music in clarinet performance with education certification in 2009. She also holds a Kodály Mastery Certificate from Drake University. Besides making and listening to music, Patty loves to spend time with friends and family, knitting, and being outdoors. |

Lydia Schettler received her Bachelor of Music from Simpson College in 2011. She received her Kodaly Mastery Certificate from the University of Saint Thomas and completed Orff Level I in August. Fall 2017 marks her her fifth year at Holy Spirit Elementary at Kuemper in Carroll. She previously taught K-12 vocal music for two years in southwest Iowa. She coaches speech and loves playing the ukelele.

Sonia Johnson is the assistant vocal director at Ames High School. She taught elementary general music and choir in the Saydel district for ten years. Sonia co-conducted the Ames Children's Choir Preparatory Choir for five years and conducted the Grand Avenue Baptist Church Kids Choir for fifteen years. She is a graduate of Iowa State University and received her Kodály Mastery Certificate from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. She is a past president of KEI and served as the MKMEA 2016 conference co-chair. She lives in Ames with her husband, Chris and three sons.

Member at Large:
Kelly Janson teaches K-5 vocal and general music for Des Moines Public Schools where she has taught since 2005 (Jackson Elementary 2005-2017, Hillis Elementary 2017-current). She is a 2004 graduate of Luther College, earned a master’s degree in k-12 education from Viterbo University in 2009 and completed a mastery of Kodaly certification in 2011 while attending both Drake University and University of Nebraska- Omaha. In addition, Kelly serves the district as a demonstration teacher, mentor teacher and building technology specialist. Kelly lives in Des Moines with her husband, Chris and their son, Charlie. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, and feels fortunate to combine her love for music, technology and working with children into one awesome job! |
Lauren Fladland has taught in the College Community School District (Home of the Prairie Hawks) since 2013. Currently she teaches 6th grade choir at Prairie Creek Intermediate and 7th and 8th grade women’s choir at Prairie Point Middle School and 9th Grade Academy. Fladland currently holds a B.A. in Music from Luther College and a M.A. in Music Education from the University of St. Thomas and is currently completing her Kodaly Levels at Silver Lake College.

Membership:
Carly Schieffer graduated from Iowa State University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Music Education. In 2014 she graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a Masters of Arts in Music Education with an emphasis in Kodály. She taught Kindergarten - 5th grade general music for five years at Bowman Woods Elementary with Linn-Mar Schools. While there her singers have been selected to the Iowa Opus Honor Choir, MKMEA Honor Choir, NC-ACDA Honor Choir, and OAKE honor choir. Previous to Linn-Mar she taught in a variety of school settings including two years overseas and two years in a rural district. She took Kodály Levels I and II at Drake University and completed Level III at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is also the past president of Kodály Educators of Iowa. She currently maintains a private music studio, teaches Music Together, and is adjunct faculty at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids while staying at home with her son Silas. |

Molly Loftin graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Music degree. She is in her 17th year of teaching Kindergarten through 2nd grade music at Fairview Elementary in Grinnell, IA. She has also taught preschool music and transitional kindergarten music for various years while at Fairview. Molly holds a Master of Arts in Education (Educational Leadership) degree from Viterbo University and has taken Kodaly Levels l and II an Orff Levels I and II at Drake University. She has held a position on the KEI board since it was founded.
